Several Buzzards were climbing in the same thermal, making their usual aggressive interactions whenever they came close enough.

A couple of distant buzzards having a bit of a set-to. These are at 7 fps but without knowledge of the relative positions

Once high enough for the rooks not to bother harassing them, these disagreeable birds squabble amongst themselves! Love the aerodynamic stress bending the upper bird's primary feathers.

Further along our sequence the Buzzards' plummet to earth started to include some power lines (well out of the crop we show) which let us show the rate of drop (but not enough info to get the left-right positions correct). These are spaced at about 140mS intervals and the interaction stopped as they reached about 10 metres up.

A thermal had these 2 buzzards climbing, but before they disappeared to specks they came close enough for this little talons-out skirmish. It took them perhaps a minute to regain the height that they lost!

Only later when counting the Canada Geese for the file title did we notice that one of the birds (second from the left) was in fact a Barnacle Goose.

As the pair of Canada Geese flew away their overlapping wings made some interesting patterns that we have tried to turn into an interesting 'design'.

3 Canada Geese circled past before turning into the wind to land in or by a lake by the brook.

Groups of 10 or 15 Canada Geese, flying over in the early morning, has progressed to this group of about 60, seen here against the morning sky.

A minute later the Canada Geese have formed into a long skein for their couple of minutes or so journey west.

We could have 'erased' the one bird breaking the symmetry of this Vegetarian society 'V' shape, but think the shape is lovely anyway. Birds fly in these formations to use the wake of the bird in front and to one side to get a 'tow'. At the moment all the geese fly off to the North East rather than to the local lakes.

When an image is overexposed and 'burnt out' we often make a negative of it as part of the procedure for correcting the highlights (which become lowlights where you can use gamma correction to selectively correct it). But as the negative appeared on the screen we both went 'oooo' and thought you might also enjoy the purity.

On a quiet morning around dawn we saw about 1000 Canada Geese in the distance and overhead. Unexpectedly we did not hear their strident calls in flight - only from the distant fields as they set off.

Although a montage (for a blur on the two left birds) this is what we saw - the bird feathers luminous in the glow of the rising sun.

A Carrion crow touches down with a short but substantial stick.
So there must a be Crow's nest on our patch but we haven't found it yet. This pair of Crows habitually build in evergreen trees, and it is hard to spot from the ground with them high in the canopy.

We like to see buzzards, but the carrion crows are a lot less keen and mob them, usually without much success beyond a minor evasion. Although only one bird is in this frame, 4 of them were wheeling round the action.
