Here is the cloud of midges in more detail.
When you are trying to stop them getting into your mouth or biting, you think of them as formless nuisances, but you can just see here that they are properly formed little insects.

We don't see much of the Bramblings in the Woodland area this is the first sighting at the tree-stump. Judging from encounters elsewhere the Chaffinch on the left will be an even match.

We really don't know what is going on with these male and female chaffinches. Family Spat? Showing off? Fleeing something and the positions are just chance?

Male Chaffinch attacking a Great Tit that looks all too ready to defend it's right to be by the huge peanut feeder just off the right frame edge.
Who 'blinked' first?

A glorious splash of colour as this male Chaffinch launches from the ground. The normally hidden green rump (not as prominent here as we sometimes see) always seems to us to be unexpected.
