And Lo - a Rook arrives to harry it away.

In the distance we watched this Rook harassing the Buzzard well beyond what seems to us to be it's territorial needs. Here the Buzzard suddenly 'turns the tables' and pursues the rook down to quite near the ground out of sight for us.

Buzzards can hover facing into a wind.
This one over the crop spends a few seconds stationary in the air (so separated here) before diving down on whatever it has spotted.

After many weeks of absence buzzards have reappeared to the north. Perhaps 400m away the Buzzard hovered momentarily in the wind before descending out of view. The descent is accurate at 7fps but the first few frames are more spaced out than reality.

The local 'Buzzard' spent about 15 minutes hunting from the post in the meadow.
As the bird lands notice here the movement blurred tail of the middle image - each time the bird landed it swung the tail left and right at high speed presumably to settle the feathers into place.

The 'local' Buzzard perched quietly on the post

Here the Buzzard launches, presumably towards some potential prey.

Not long enough sunshine for a decent thermal so this Buzzard flew round the plot on flapping wing power, and thus rather lower than usual

The buzzards are also in evidence and flying quite low.

Buzzards are occasionally circling over our patch making use of the updraft from the North wind to gain height. First the classic hanging in the air view.

And then a view that really makes it clear that this bird is a hunter.

For just a few minutes the sun broke through the clouds luring us outside. We were lucky that our 'noisy' buzzard chose this moment to make a lazy flyby against the clouds and a patch of blue. The lack a thermals provides a more active view than the usual hanging in the updraft.

As the grass re-grows in the field to North & East the Kestrels and Buzzards are taking an interest again. One that consistently calls in flight did a low flyby and a few circles.

Some sunshine on a cold day brought out the buzzards to use the thermals. But this one was flying by - these are accurately positioned successive frames.

What we assume is a family of 4 Buzzards in a thermal moved near to our patch (but mostly rather high). One of them was much lower than the others but still circling. Just an impression here.

An adult Buzzard turning away from us on the 'sunny side' with feathers nicely underlit.

Buzzards appear on some sunny days with 'puffy' clouds - one of the conditions that creates Thermals. This is an impression of a Buzzard turning in a thermal nearly above us.
