Birds - Great Tit Page 7

Image Taken on 06 Jun 2017 at 12:35    Image of day on 30 Jul 2017

Young birds are being fed by their parents all over the site, mostly hidden from us inside bushes and tree. But here a couple of juvenile Great Tits are being introduced to the delights of the peanut feeder by an attentive parent of the right. This idyll was interrupted by the arrival of a Grey Squirrel.

The Straw bales abandoned a few years ago outside our border have started to collapse, but this doesn't bother the birds that probe it for food. It must be crawling with insects!

A Great Tit sings from one of the hundred or so young Lombardy Poplars along the farm road. For once we were close enough for some of his song to just make it through our now 'cloth ears'.
The bird didn't move along the twig - its just a pleasant montage.

Its not every Great Tit that tries strawberry - it had been untouched for an hour (including other Great Tits) before this one had a go - it had gone next frame.

Great Tits are only a little larger than Blue Tits. We normally think of both species as having matt feathers, but this Great Tit shows a lovely glossy head - could it just be soaked?
