This Kestrel suddenly appears a few metres from one of the windows hunting in
a hover over what passes for our 'Lawn'.

This female Kestrel is perched on an 11kV cable over the Bridleway to
the north. Images from the north and from the bridleway.
We left her to continue her not very intensive hunt.

... but a strong gust of wind made her lose balance, and she ended up with her back

She stayed there for another 6 minutes before flying along the hedge onto a branch
of this Ash tree growing out of the south hedge.

A few days later we find her again, this time perched on a tree

This female Kestrel and we stood watching each other, when suddenly a
beam of sunshine lit her for a few seconds.

A minute later she decided to depart.
The montage is accurate, but the branch she was perched on sprung back up
as she left - the white bar is to excuse the end of the branch 'being in the wrong place'.

We believe that the original human-tolerant female Kestrel is back.
Here she flies quite close to us to land in a tree on the island in
the main pond, where she stopped for a hunt. We were both already
quite close when she landed for a hunt.

The female Kestrel flies from the footrest on the disused Telephone pole
low over the ground and out of sight.

Harvesting, ploughing and harrowing the in nearby field has
attracted the corvids flocks, and the kestrels get a few minutes
peace to hunt.

The Kestrels are having a bad time with a flock of a few hundred
mixed Corvids in the area, and at the moment rarely manage more
than a minute or two hunting before being mobbed.

Kestrels (the birds often seen hovering over motorways) are wonderful
to watch whether hovering or not.

One of the female Kestrels spends a few minutes hunting the area using the usual
fly along a bit and then hover for a few seconds.
Spacing is closer than reality.

The local female Kestrel spent most of the day hunting over 1000 square metres
of farm margin saturated grass. Read this flight from right to left - the
leftmost bird is folding her wings making her look suddenly smaller.
