A rather magnificent Wood Pigeon lands on the meadow post, not bothered by smoke from a nearby bonfire.

A Wood Pigeon lands on the meadow post.
The light falls differently on the left and right primary feathers making them appear to be different 'shades of Grey' (perhaps even 50).

... and then at about 6 a.m. against the light. The winds have been atypical, and every pic is the back view!

The early morning sun backlights this Wood Pigeon and makes the mass of Teasel heads positively glow.

Half an hour earlier the next day the Teasels are still in shade, and the wind is now Easterly (towards the camera) so we get a rather different image.

We rarely get pictures of birds leaving the Meadow post (a technical matter) so were surprised to get these two usable moments 3 hours apart.

On the ground, perhaps trying to use the resident as a trampoline.
The shadow indicates that the landing bird has actually contacted the lower bird.

At this time of year we get less than 8 hours of sunlight. The orange light of the setting sun illuminates this sleek Wood Pigeon.
