As we walk about the Robins in each territory make their approach in the hope of some food from the bottom of Marie's bottomless corn pocket. This one is perched on a 'weldmesh' ring which does service as an incinerator.

Only about 4 Hours after yesterdays portrait the snow thaw has turned into a minor flood as the ground beneath is still frozen and the water can only run over the surface. Unfortunately we didn't realise in the summer that this site is in the preferred run-off.

Birds are just so agile in the air. There is the head of another Dunnock at the right edge of the original frame, so maybe this is the male showing off. You can see the log is in one of its 'rook-adjusted' positions

Walking round the plot, a succession of Robins arrive in the hope of some corn. This one is perched on the filler cap of our many decades old heating oil tank.
Modern 'Plastic' tanks apparently last 10 years if you are lucky.

A pristine Robin.
Keeping reasonably warm in the freezing nights needs every bit of insulation they can find.

This Robin at the hedge bottom includes an almost complete reflection in the water that floods the path between camera and subject as run-off from the farm fields to our east.

The local Robin for this bit of the south hedge guards the stone and unknowingly provides the camera with his reflection in the slowly running flood water.

We have dozens of robins each defending a territory. At the territorial boundery one bird becomes hesitant and another arrived. This one was perched on the top of a little post that holds our house name board.

The surface of frozen ponds have attracted a pair of Foxes, pheasants, and many small birds including this robin.

Robins seem to 'light up' the hedges with their red and white breasts.

Is it the Robin unusually 'lighting up' the hedges this year, or is it our perception of them? This little guy was over our access concrete track, obviously excited by the prospect of a hand-out from 'bottomless' corn pocket.

Robin using the small log as a lookout post. We get this sort of pose 5 or 10 times a day, but this is a particularly nice one.
