Birds - Robin Page 19

Along the path across the meadow this Robin came expectantly to the top of the meadow post (where you see Owls from a different angle at night) and we took a few portraits before delivering his reward from the pocket full of corn we take with us.

Grab it before it escapes - whatever 'it' might be.

Robin preening in the heavily frosted vegetation. Birds are STILL finding seeds in these old teasel heads.

This is 'Courtship feeding' where the male feeds the female to demonstrate he can be a good provider for their chicks, and provide some extra food while she is making eggs.
But a nice fresh worm would not feature on OUR breakfast menu!

This robin has caught another worm - a rather small one this time, but obviously worth the effort to pull out of the ground.

The tree trunk top camera got a lot of snow related portraits of which this Robin disturbing the fresh snow is a sample.

Perhaps 30 minutes after putting out the bait at this site, the majority was gone and this robin seems determined that his beak was going to be the last to get the easy food.

In the winter the sun streaks through the depleted leaf canopy to illuminate things that are dark all summer!

A little joy for the start of a new year - may it rub off on you all.
There didn't seem to be any target for the song - maybe a little joie-de-vie brought about by the opportunity to get a full crop!

This Robin sings 'at us' from a branch near the house.
Sadly, most of the song is lost to our ageing ears.

The Robin can see Spring on its way.
From the top of this conifer the song was echoing off the garage. We are amazed how open the beak is.

Around the blocked gate we often find a singing Robin, here perched on a nearby 11kV cable, but also in various trees and hedges.

We are surrounded by robins - this one sat on a branch a few metres away and sang to us (or more likely the other robins!)

Some of the Robins are not quite hand tame, but you can get very close where the singing is remarkably loud for such a tiny creature.
