Looks like these robins have a family to feed. A small caterpillar we guess is destined for a small beak. This was one of a number of visits.

A Robin with a caterpillar in the beak. We are seeing Robins all round the site collecting insects & grubs.
Youngsters to feed already we think.

A pleasing juxtaposition of Robin and Cherry Blossom.
We are sure the Robin is indifferent to the beauty, but we are not.

Robin standing in a heap of chilly slush.
Most birds that we see have to tolerate severe cooling of their naked legs and claws, and have a heat exchanger at the top of the legs to warm the cold blood coming up the legs by cooling the blood about to go down the legs.

One gorgeous Robin with broad Brood patch looks at us hopefully from a leafing beech branch. On the sunlit eye you can see the brown iris.

The fluffed-up feathers on this robin show up the structure unusually well.

"Look at me - I've got 2 red feathers"
Actually the bird probably can't see them, but this is how we always see them arriving in an apparently random pattern over the breast.

Is this robin looking up, down, or just showing off? Probably a minor head turn for a bird that can preen it's back.

This year we have managed to photograph an unusual variety of birds collecting insects for their young.

A Robin has (presumably) pulled this earthworm out of the ground. Our experience is that the bird will bite it into a few segments small enough to swallow.

What we think might be the same juvenile robin as show on 28 Aug 2007 now added a few more red feathers to his 'first'.

"Are you here with food?
This was after our last walk round the field so we don't really know what was going on, but we often see this sort of 'hopeful' look from Robins as we walk by.
