The Robin over the stone is actually in the air without the bird on the ground (back to us)
apparently being concerned.

Outside of the breeding season both sexes of Robins defend their territory
against all-comers, but to breed they have to relax their guard for a mate.
Another 'loving couple' of Robins have breakfast together at the Woodland site.

We have a soft spot for pairs of Robins for the short time they tolerate each
other for the breeding season.
These two are chatting by the water-cooler standing by the sunken water bowl at the Meadow site.

"I LOVE YOU!"
Having your partner shouting their message of love at you from
5cm away is better than not hearing it.

More than a week later still about two thirds of images of pairs
of robins at this site show this same characteristic positions
We think it has to be some mating display that something
about the way the camera is triggered means we keep seeing it!

The Robins have to smother their normal territorial aggression if
they are going to 'get together' to make a new generation. Here is
an evening assignation and a morning song!

The Robins continue their Love-in.
We think this must be the male (left) courtship feeding
the female.

Female birds often demand food from the males during the early
breeding season, as the female Robin on left is doing.
It is called 'courtship feeding'. Apart from proving that the
male knows what to catch for the youngsters to come, it helps the
female to determine the availability of suitable food for chicks
and thus when to lay the eggs.

The pair of Robins that include the access track outside the house as part of this years territory.
You can see that the track (owned by the 'Farm') is somewhat short of 'pristine'.

Robins are 'bitter enemies' for most of the year, but come Spring, passion
overcomes aggression. This year a pair on the access track outside the front door
will come down together to eat the corn thrown down for them.
Un-fudged single frame.

At this time of year we often see robin pairs with (presumably)
the male doing vertical launches followed by tumbling to earth
and a last-minute pull out. Must impress the girls!
Poor quality photo but of interest.
