Birds normally perch with head into the wind, but this one just ignores their feathers being blown about - for the moment anyway.

Rooks often seem to come for a brief bathe at this pond, but we usually only catch the rook with the ripples. Here in the middle image we see with bird jumping in for at most a few seconds.

Juvenile Rooks (left) don't have the white beaks of the adult . At a glance you can mistake them for a Carrion Crow except that they are slightly smaller and very sociable.

We have not so far seen Rooks feeding youngsters at the hi-res photo sites or at the peanut feeders (their beaks are just too large). But here in the orchard a 'trail camera' catches a young rook demanding to be fed by a less than enthusiastic parent.

This young Rook makes it very clear to the rather depressed looking parent that it wants F O O D !

Juvenile Rook here outnumber the adults - its been a good year for Rook breeding. This one on the Farm railings to our south is making his presence known.

This juvenile Rook hasn't learnt yet that humans are to be feared.
We left the bird in peace by taking a side path.

This Rook was hunkered down on the mounds of soil and rubble outside our south hedge. Not pleased to see us human the bird launched awkwardly to escape.

The Rooks seem mostly to have finished making the new generation. Here we have 2 pairs of Rooks, juvenile on the left in each case.

A Rook lands at the Woodland site in a flurry of feathers.
Not a trace of the wonderful iridescence we see on the Magpie.

The landing Rook has no bad intentions towards the Pigeon, who nevertheless 'gets clear of the landing zone'.

This is probably the same Rook that has just chased away a Kestrel, landing on one of the 11kV cables, perhaps with a glow of satisfaction at a successful eviction?

A Rook landing on the grass at the meadow site. The woodland behind is now mostly leafless and allows in quite a lot of sunlight, so it doesn't look 'black' as it does in summer.

A Rook with an assortment of straggly nesting lands on the Kitchen Perch.
At small size 'thumbnail' we momentarily see this image as a flying skeleton!
