Hundreds of Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) images this week (mostly not very
interesting as usual) they have started their huge show-off leaps again.

The shadow was only there for 1/1000 second, but the field mouse looks
like she is framing herself.

A hawthorn branch overhangs this camera site, and this fieldmouse (wood mouse)
is burrowing under the dropped twigs to get at the food.
Hawthorn berries obviously not first choice!

How Twee can you get?
In the hour before midnight this Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) delicately nibbles a cherry
pip it has selected from jam-making fruit waste.

Not much food left as midnight nears, but enough for a nibble.

Table manners Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) style (single frame horizontally compressed):-
- Nibble your corn grain carefully between the paws.
- Head into the food and come out with whiskers covered in it

This apple is typically eating apple size - its reminds one how
tiny the world of the fieldmouse (wood mouse) is.

Ahhh. A fallen twig of berries (all right - cut and carried to
the site) makes a feast for this little Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse). The white
flower is cyclamen from the conservatory that got into the 'bait bowl'.

We tend to freeze our fruit crops 'as-is' rather than prepare dishes
en-masse, so we get things like cherry pips out-of-season
(quite apart from what we freeze just for the animals)
This mouse is nibbling the flesh off a pip.

Our images of mice mislead about their size - even a tiny sweet
chestnut husk is large enough to hide one

The tail seems to be pressed really hard against the body as this
mouse eats it's corn grain. While it does show that the tail is a
controllable and muscular appendage used as a 'fifth limb' when
climbing about, we have no idea why it has done this here.

How do YOU eat a corn on the cob?
At this scale a piece of fruit demands the same technique from a fieldmouse (wood mouse).

A single Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) nibbling some sort of seed from the pointed end.
Presumably this is the easiest end to start before crunching your way along.
