We have several partial images of the female Muntjac deer at this site,
but this one nicely illustrates the crossed over legs tangles they manage.
Perhaps Walt Disney's 'Bambi' doesn't exaggerate that much.

A female Muntjac Deer picking up a lump of rotten apple. This
female is much thinner than the last one we saw, so is either a
different non-pregnant animal or she has left her fawn somewhere.

From a less attractive frame, this is the Muntjac Deer facing
left showing us the underside of her front left hoof with her
Right front hoof firmly in the ground tip down making a
characteristic 'slot' we find marking her progress in soft paths
all around the plot.

In the wet weather we see lots of Muntjac Deer Slots (Hoof prints),
but this one in a soggy mole hill is particularly deep and well
defined. At the bottom you can clearly see the split in the
double hoof and the detail of the outline.

'Our' Muntjac Deer is not really a 'Fawn' any longer - the spotted body
has become the lovely brown and is often spotted feeding on its own.

As we walk up an orchard path towards the house, this young Reeve's Muntjac Deer
is walking the other way. We both stop and look at each other before the
Deer makes a slightly nervous jink to the left and then quietly walks off in that direction.

A lovely portrait of the male Muntjac Deer coming in through the 'back' of the
hedge. He had passed through the orchard about 90 minutes earlier probably
looking for as yet unconsumed windfall apples.

Walking down our concrete access track we spotted, but were apparently not
spotted by, this male Muntjac Deer, with just stubs of the antlers, wandering
quietly down the dew soaked margin between crop and the outside of our northern
hedge, before quietly entering our patch though an access way we cut though the
pig net years ago. This was at 05:40 a.m. (about 45 minutes after sunrise)

Next evening the male Muntjac makes another visit.
This animal obviously has little fear of the camera noise and flash.

The male Muntjac Deer made this lovely portrait - antlers freshly shed of their
velvet coverings. This visit lasted about 5 minutes just before sunset.

The male, nearest the camera' has the tiny antlers.

Muntjac Deer are herbivores, here making the most of the untidy grass edges we
leave for them. You can see the normal view of the closed scent gland close to
the right of the eye.

with lovely new antlers. Bounding past us rather than the usual

The male Reeve's Muntjac Deer wasn't pleased by our arrival and made a prompt but not
panicked departure through the growing corn.

The Muntjac Deer sometimes appear near the house as it is getting dark, here the
male is foraging on the edge of the main pond and IN the more overgrown parts.
