he is getting used to us - 'mostly harmless'.

We think that this Reeves' Muntjac Deer is male Fawn just starting his first
growth of Antlers. We think he looks and feels rather magnificent.
Muntjac Antlers and Breeding don't follow any calendar pattern.

Over just 3 minutes the camera at the Duck Pond eavesdrops on this pair
of Reeves' Muntjac Deer as the male tries to get the female to mate.

Surprise of the week was this messy image of 3 Reeves' Muntjac Deer at the Meadow
Site.
We assume a 'pair' of adults off the left edge and centre top, with a very young Fawn just
below centre.

A few days later we see similar behaviour at the hedge bottom site.
We don't remember seeing behaviour before and suspect that this is one of
this years new Deer extending their nights browsing into the daylight at
each end of the day. This is the early morning ...

In the camera version we discover that these Deer actually have
quite long whiskers both above and below the muzzle.
We have photographed these deer for years and never caught the
light just right to see them.

This Reeves' Muntjac Deer (right at the edge of the camera frame as usual) is
on two legs as they explore the hedge bottom.
We Bipeds are fascinated by the multiple ways long-legged quadrupeds
maneuver their legs without apparently getting them tangled

2 Reeves' Muntjac Deer here, one obvious in the foreground while another
is on the path a few metres behind. It is very difficult to judge the relative sizes,
and we don't see any tell-tale antlers, so the mostly hidden Deer MIGHT by a
juvenile still following Mum around.

This Reeve's Muntjac Deer appeared about 7m away across the pond, and quietly
walked onto the mat of Iris roots over the water, disappearing behind the metre
high fronds.
