Seeing the arrival of the photographer along this path along the inner hedge, this female Reeves' Muntjac Deer takes a careful look before wandering into the thicket on the right.

We expected that Reeve's Muntjac Deer would eat a variety of food from the baited sites, but so far all we see is her licking up corn.

A 'resident' female Reeve's Muntjac Deer has found a shrub in our 'garden' that is literally 'to her taste'.

Here she is at the Woodland camera site, licking up corn grain (amongst other stuff we prefer not to think about).

A Detail from the Reeve's Muntjac Deer portrait - we think she is lovely!

Three days later, dark enough for the camera to switch to IR illumination, Mum and Fawn are still roaming the plot.
We think the Fawn may be looking for the 'Milk Bar'

The Fawn is Back!
On the left the Fawn is following Mum from the 'building site' outside through the hedge gap to follow her over the dry ditch.
On the right of the white bar (included in this accurate montage so as not to imply that the Fawn is looking back at Mum) we get a view of the Fawn looking at nothing we can see in the original pic.

A delightful sighting of a Reeve's Muntjac Deer Fawn and mother quietly walking through the orchard.

15 minutes later the camera at the east hedge gap catches the Reeves's Muntjac Mother and Fawn moving past the camera at enough speed to blur the image.

Inside one minute female and then male Reeves Muntjac Deer pass over the same point by the ditch. Undoubtedly the male was 'following' as they do!

The female Reeve's Muntjac deer seems not so bothered by the camera noise and flash that she doesn't visit this site again after a few days in the dark of a moonless night.

No, not a still from Disney's Bambi, but capturing a moment of peace at Round pond.
Bottom upward we see the now 'finished' Daffodils, one of female Reeves' Muntjac Deer, Cow Parsley, Dock, Forget-me-not and Garlic Mustard. Oh, and some grass to fill the gaps.

Next day the early afternoon lighting provides a much better pic of just Mum and her Fawn at the same place.

The Reeves' Muntjac Deer Fawn has now mostly lost their juvenile spots. Here 8 minutes apart we see Mum and her youngster.

A montage of 3 moments to get all three members of the Reeve's Muntjac Deer family in the frame at once, in the positions they actually occupied. Left to right: Mum, Fawn and a male that we assume must be Dad.

We are delighted to report that one of the female Reeve's Muntjac Deer has had a Fawn! Here are left to right are the Dad, Fawn and Mum in the gloom of evening. Try to imagine their little hard hooves clicking their way along our concrete access track.

This female Reeve's Muntjac Deer spent 10 minutes feeding at the woodland site. An amusing sideline is the Grey Squirrel creeping ever closer. She can be seen just behind the thigh of the front legs at the left, and 10 minutes the Squirrel seems to be right under the Deer.

For the rest of the night at typically 2 hourly intervals the Deer returns for short stays. Always approaching in the same direction, here are one image from all six visits after the initial long stay.
