Read this sequence top left to top right, bottom left to bottom
right, as a Red Kite fancied the prey the Buzzard (top) was
carrying but didn't get any. The prey is probably a rabbit.

In late morning the sun now reaches a decent height, so the centre of the rainbow
is well below the horizon. The rainbow is caught as two adjoining frames,
with the bird added at a different focal length from two frames later.
But the kite was flying over the bow as you see here.

Stepping out of the house revealed this Red Kite hanging close by in the sky,
facing into the wind and sun.
The bird proceeded to make 3 slow circles over about 3 minutes.
The enforced slow progress provided
a rare opportunity here for lots of Red Kite Photos.

Imagine our surprise when checking/refocussing the camera that 'watches' the
Meadow post showed us this first ever visit, that we know of, of a Red Kite
visiting the Meadow Post at about 5 p.m.

The bird stayed for at least 5 minutes (the camera stops photographing after 5 minutes
of continuous photo-trigger beam break) so we got this little sequence of the bird
sometimes quite intensively studying the ground below.

These two Red Kites obviously practicing aerial combat. It never
got really 'nasty' so we rather enjoyed the aerobatics. Parents
often spar with their youngsters to teach them 'the ropes'.

The sky had a definite orange tinge from the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia, but
our focus was on this lovely Red Kite and we didn't notice until we looked at
