... to land in the top of this recently flailed really broad hedge.
The appearance of the talons strongly suggests that they are carrying a mouse or vole size prey item up to the hedge top to eat it.

Red Kites here don't seem to be any more welcomed by Corvids than the Buzzards. We saw this one flying in from the distance and vanished into some trees near the horizon. A minute or two later it emerged from the trees carrying what looks like twig and being hotly pursued by a pair of Carrion Crows for several hundred metres in our general direction. Here is about half a second of action.

The Kite made a slow curving glide overhead, here contracted from about 3 seconds of flight.

This Red Kite wheeled around our heads, which we here try to represent at smaller than an A1 piece of paper!

Next day this Red Kite made a couple of circles, but too awkwardly positioned for a long sequence. Finally she vanished into the distance.

A Red kite circling overhead.
What a mess the moult makes of the normally pristine feathers.

This Red Kite doesn't seem at all bothered by us, and is happy to climb in thermals right next to us.

More detail of the top-right image - the photographer feels 'spotted'.

A genuine close-spaced selection of a single circle of this Red Kite climbing in a Thermal. The sequence starts top right and ends middle right where the bird is a bit higher and appears a bit smaller.

A minute later the Red Kite made a couple of lazy circles in the thermal from the field adjacent to our north boundary. Here is half a circle showing the bird at about 1 second intervals. Spacing of the images is wildly too close!

In the hot afternoon sun in a cloudless sky, this Red Kite started drawing circles in the sky as it gained height. The bird made a lovely swoop coming quite close to us. From the 42 pics we took (at 7fps) we selected these 8 to make a close spaced impression. Pics about 2/3 second apart.

This Red Kite spent a couple of minutes quartering the land above us.

The photographer most definitely felt 'spotted' but 'not important'.

This Red Kite provided a couple of minutes delight ...

A Red kite wheeled around above, gradually moving upwards without more than a twitch of the wings and tail.

Two more moments from the Red-Kite flyover

A bit of sunshine and blue sky brought along this Red Kite who flew almost over as they flew in from the SW and turned to go off to the SE. A pick from 65 pics at 10fps close spaced for effect.

This Red Kite flew by quite close to us and we captured these 4 images about a half second apart. The bland sky gives us no way to recreate the positions accurately so they are much too close.

Ref: 20150624_df3_20150501_1218_069+072+075+076 red kite circling quite low (discontinuous) 01-04 of 18 (montage)(r+mb id@1024).jpg

As the Red Kite circled it moved against some cloud edges, allowing us an accurate montage at 5 fps giving a better idea of flight speed.

At the other end of the biological flight scale this rather Tatty Red Kite made a few lazy circles in the sky above us.
