A Greenfinch sees off a male Chaffinch.
The pecking order of our common visitors at the moment seems to be:-
  1. Grey Squirrel (not exactly 'pecking' - more bite)
  2. Great Spotted Woodpecker
  3. Starling
  4. Blackbird
  5. Greenfinch
  6. Robin
  7. Chaffinch
  8. Great Tit
  9. Bluetit

Greenfinches reappeared after a summer and autumn absence, and are really aggressive towards each other and any other creature that gets in their way. Here a Great Tit flees the wrath of the Greenfinch.

The Greenfinches have only just re-appeared for the Autumn, and already they are squabbling. Who turned away first we wonder. Genuine single frame.

The perch by the kitchen window peanut feeder is the site of many disputes, including one between this pair of greenfinches.

Greenfinches generally win territorial disputes against robins, but being airborne gives the robin some advantage. Just about even then - both birds decide the other one should be ignored (for now).
