Two nights running we have caught moments of real aggression between two mice at this site.

Whether they are squabbling or loving we are not really sure.

A couple of fieldmice (wood mice) having a squabble from either side of the log. Rory at the Woodland Trust suggests the title "The Two Mousekateers".

This couple of fieldmice (wood mice) look like they are having a bit of a squabble.

A rather muddled image of two fieldmice (wood mice) appearing to be having a squabble.

The loss of one (probably many more) to the Kestrel has had no noticeable effect on the numbers or behaviour.

How these two fieldmice (wood mice) can be fighting mid-leap each head to other tail we really don't know.

Not so sweet - the mouse on the right may be trying to gain an advantage by using to apple to gain some height over the opponent.

These 2 squabbling fieldmice (wood mice) remind us of Sumo wrestlers, or the avatars in 'Wii Sports Resort' fencing game, both trying to push their opponent out of the ring or off the edge!

Montage of 2 images from the same night of (possibly the same) fieldmouse (wood mouse) carrying off apple peel.

But that is just a corner of the larger story ... Successive frames one minute apart show all 4 fieldmice (wood mice) deciding on a simultaneous rapid departure. Reason unknown, but other less graphic instances were the arrival of a badger.

We are convinced this whisker mingling is the Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) equivalent of a snog!

Wheee ... & we have not a clue what triggered this.

A couple of Fieldmice (Wood Mice) in the hours before dawn, practising spectacular leaps. Such ability might be very useful in escaping from the local Cat.

From 4 frames of Fieldmice (Wood Mice) over one night we build this little fun montage.

A somewhat arbitrary collection of Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) images taken over two nights.
A culinary delight for the Owls?

About the same time next night, we think two different mice

We often see fieldmice (wood mice) so close their whiskers must be touching. What a different world of sensations they inhabit.
