Four regular 'Mound visitors' species captured over 50 hours, all where they
were at the time.

2 different Rabbits visiting the Meadow site about an hour apart a bit
before 'sunrise'. The one on the left looks like our venerable 'Three Ears'.

Obviously rabbits are not frightened of mice, unlike the
proverbial Elephant. (But see also the image for 31 Dec 2008.)

Fieldmice (Wood Mice) apparently understand that rabbits are not a threat to them.
This chance moment caught the fieldmouse (wood mouse) leaping by the oblivious rabbit.

Just a rather typical collection of visitors. The slug is the
shiny brown thing on the log.

These two creatures were photographed just 4 minutes apart, and
we often see Rabbits and Fieldmice (Wood Mice) coexisting in peace. So here
is a fun but accurate montage that also contrasts the difference in size.

We don't understand why we see these mouse jamborees for short periods at most
every few days, and this one is the first at the Rabbit (hopefully soon Fox Earth) hole.
This camera is set to take 4 pics per trigger, so this is about a quarter of the mouse
appearances - apparently a single mouse - there are no frames with two sets of eyes!
All in 9 minutes!

The relative sizes of these two is startling when you see them
together. The mouse seems not the least bothered.

The Scraggy-tailed Fox keeps an eye of the Rabbit hole.
They can probably smell the Rabbits and hope that one might be
at the entrance ready to grab.

There is a rabbit burrow entered from under the lower slab, and the Fox
at the top seems to be waiting hopefully for a incautious Rabbit to appear.
15 minutes later we are surprised to see a Fox 'Cub' in a similar position.
90 minutes later, as the day gets lighter, a baby Rabbit ventures out - now
in comparative safety.

at the east hedge gap, complete with a good sized Rabbit clamped in their jaws.

Another reason for the lack of Rabbits is the increasing activities of the Fox,
here carrying off another young Rabbit.
No - its NOT the Rabbit above - this photo was taken 2 days earlier.

what is most probably a Rabbit in their mouth.

We nowadays see very few Rabbits in our patch, but this fox has obviously found
one and appears to be carrying it out of the plot through the east hedge gap.
Another less clear instance occurred on the next night.

A little before dawn this Fox again visits the disused rabbit hole on the Mound.
Lots of pics of this suggest that one or more foxes check this hole every night.

A hungry fox slightly crouched a few metres from the active Rabbit hole in
this mound under the bottom (remaining) step. This is around sunrise - the fox
undoubtedly hoping an incautious young Rabbit will appear to provide his 'supper'.

seems to becoming safe to access again.
