Hares now find it easy to hide from sight in the ripening (more like already ripe after the heat-wave) wheat, but after dark seem to like coming into our patch - for a change of diet?

This Hare just inside the East hedge gap seems to be biting off the leafy part of this solo weed on the otherwise barren ground.

Caught in an atypical position we see this Hare investigating the Leaf-litter with rear legs partly unfolded showing just how long they are.

Humans seem a bit 'ear deprived' compared to many wild species. Here an early morning Hare shows us his lovely floppy ears.

The grass in the fallow fields is now so long there is little hope of spotting even a Deer, let alone a Hare.
But occasional visits inside our patch continue to delight us.

One of the Hares stayed well back, while the other approached along the edge of the Farm Road, suddenly reaching upwards before dropping down again.
All over in less than 1 second.

Eventually the Hare seemed to realise that his hiding posture was doing no good at all, so ran off into the crop out of frame to the left. One and a quarter seconds of the run shown here.

An earlyish morning (7 a.m.) walk finds this Hare on alert almost 100 metres away.. We started walking towards the Hare who inexplicably moved across a concrete track towards us, and then gradually folded back the wonderful ears before crouching down in the short grass probably hoping to be rendered invisible. This sequence is a construct to show the change in position of the hare, including major relocations and approximate changes of scale from both the Hare and the humans moving. But this 3 minutes of change is a genuine reflection of what happened in a strange sort of slow-motion.

After a prolonged absence we were delighted by this early morning Hare running towards us as we paused on a disused farm track. After a few seconds the animal stopped to give us a look over.

This hare about 50m away didn't seem bothered by us, and carried on as usual.

The Hare moved onto the mown patch in the field margin and ambled about before disappearing into the rank grass.

An afternoon Hare takes a couple of Selfies near the South hedge gap. Visually obviously a different individual to the morning Hare.

Before the field was harrowed we sighted this Hare at least 50 metres away in the stubble. It took a look at us and ambled away showing us only it's rear end!

... and 15 minutes later right outside the Patio doors of the 'study'.

Delight of the week was a couple of Hares wandering just outside the house. Despite one cut already, the grass is very shaggy at the moment while it is too wet to cut without a struggle. Perhaps long grass feels like 'home'.
