Our last sighting of the regular male Muntjac Deer had lost just one Antler.
Here he is now Antler free with the stubs flat-topped ready to grow a new set.

Next day we see him contemplating the camera as he chews the cud.

The return of the muntjac deer. The first image was it 'playing'
tag with some magpies - we felt this image helps give a sense of
scale normally missing for this tiny deer. The white spec at the
bottom of the head immediately below the eye is his tusk -
a vampire Bambi?

Our occasional sighting of Muntjac Deer are usually of solitary animals. So this
image of 2 males apparently having a trial of strength on the bank of Round pond
is a first for us. The water is behind the animal at the top and it likely that
it was pushed down the bank and into the water. 3 images left to right a few seconds apart.

And here the endearing mother and Fawn together image. The Fawn happily pushed
through the stinging nettles and mother actually appeared to eat some.

The covert IR cameras caught several images of Mother and Fawn of
which we like this one the most.

Half an hour before seeing the male Muntjac deer near the house, the trail cam
at Round Pond used it's IR lamp to catch this gorgeous little triplet of Mother
Muntjac Deer followed by a really tiny new Fawn. Mum is barely the height of the
daffodils, so this youngster is really tiny - certainly the smallest fawn we
have ever 'seen' here.

The Muntjac Fawn looks rather wet, and this detail from the above
shows the Fawn's chin splattered with Duckweed. We did see it
slip into the water of the main pond on the CCTV one night, but
can't definitely tie up the dates.

What we assume is the same pair of Reeves Muntjac Deer first by the edge
of Round Pond, and an hour later at the end of the orchard 100m away,
where the male is sniffing the female 'in hope'.

The female Reeves' Muntjac Deer (left) has entered through the normal hedge gap.
The male (right) seems to have come in by another route - these seemingly
impenetrable hedge stems are little barrier to creatures of this size.

A Muntjac Deer, otherwise mostly out of frame, gives us an unusually
clear view of the divided rear hoof. The Hoof prints Muntjac Deer leave
in soft ground are very distinctive
