Over 7 minutes this Rabbit worked their way along the log on Round Mound.
The Fieldmouse (Wood Mouse) (top left) finally put his head out of the 'mammal hole' as the Rabbit departed.

Whoosh - 2 seconds of a Rabbit streaking across the grass margin to gain the
safety of our plot at the left. The Rabbit started running upon seeing us about
70m away to the right and reached 'peak speed' on the 'level' grass. Rabbit
shooters have been about for the last few weeks and by now any tolerance of
humans will be long gone.

A closer view of the speeding Rabbit.
Muybridge (the Victorian moving image photographer) might have loved this, and
then got how Horses run as completely wrong as the artists of the time!

One normally thinks of rabbits nibbling the grass, but here a youngster picks a
stem to bite off and then consume lengthways all the way up to and including the
seed head.

This rainy night (7.5mm in the rain gauge) was soaking the few
creatures who decided to venture out. Examining the twisting of
various parts and the flying raindrops suggests this rabbit was
doing the classic twist and shake to shed some of the wet.

We don't remember previously seeing a Rabbit with back arched to a concave position.
The legs seem to be stationary so we guess the Rabbit is having a stretch.

Handbrake Turn?
We really can't work out how the rabbit managed to get it's
legs into this tangle. Oh to be that flexible. Was it making
an escape from the fox at one minute past midnight?

The summer invasion of young rabbits is upon us, all
looking so innocent. This one has to be named 'Buttercup'.

Its a shame that animals are most remembered and identified by their physical defects.
But is nice to catch up with this old 'friend' that we call Three-ears after an accident of
some sort several years ago almost completely split one ear.

This is a time of year for moths triggering the IR beam (mostly out
of frame so you get 'nothing'). Here we have added to an image of
a rabbit + one moth a number of other moths from other frames to make
this montage of several species. None are good quality but they
are all 'real'.

We don't normally show you Rabbits with Myxomatosis even though we see lots of
images on our cameras at this time of year. Many recover from less severe
attacks, but this one is as bad as it gets. The rabbit is (at least temporarily)
blinded by the swellings but alive. It has found this piece of pear to eat at
the left end of the log ...

... but 5 minutes later the Rabbit meets it's end in the jaws of a Fox. We see
no signs of it even struggling, and this may be a merciful release for the
suffering Rabbit.

The picture on the left (taken 5 Jan 2020) show a Rabbit stricken with
Myxomatosis.
A month later we see the same rabbit (confirmed by ear damage detail) apparently
recovered save for the few scars showing in the facial fur.

Rabbit with carrot - just like endless illustrations in children's books.
Rabbits don't store food against future need, but then the grass they mostly
eat doesn't go away.
A leaf happens to have been falling at the moment of exposure just above the
Rabbits left front leg.
